Judge argues that FTX’s Bankman-bail Fried’s might ‘conceivably’ be revoked.

A federal judge ruled that there was “probable cause” to suspect that SBF engaged in acts that might land him in jail until his October trial.

Sam Bankman-bail Fried’s might be revoked “conceivably” after a federal judge stated there was “probable cause” to think the former FTX CEO tried witness tampering.

During a bail hearing on February 16, Judge Lewis Kaplan stated that there was “probable cause to suspect that he [Bankman-Fried] has committed or attempted to conduct a federal criminal while on parole, namely witness tampering,” according to several accounts.

Kaplan speculated that the FTX founder could be detained again until his trial in October.

However, Kaplan stated that the February 16 meeting was not a bail revocation hearing, but that it “may get there, possibly.”

“Why am I being asked to let him loose in this electronic device garden?” According to Kaplan.

Prosecutors urged Judge Kaplan on February 15 to limit Bankman-gadget Fried’s usage to a single monitored computer and telephone.

Prosecutors cited Bankman-recent Fried’s gadget usage as cause for worry, requesting that his usage be further restricted and monitored “with few exceptions.”

During the hearing, Judge Kaplan suggested that it was foolish to think that these limits would prevent Bankman-Fried from using the internet, considering that he lives with his two parents, both of whom have laptops and cellphones.

Prosecutor Nicholas Roos appeared to agree, implying that there may not be a “wonderful solution,” prompting Kaplan to argue that removing Bankman-bail Fried’s could reduce these concerns, noting:

“There is a solution, but it’s not one anybody has proposed yet.”

Bankman-lawyers, Fried’s on the other hand, said that they need him to work on his case because “we cannot go through these huge financial data without him.”

Since February 9, the former FTX CEO has been barred from using certain messaging apps after it was discovered that he had contacted prospective witnesses. He was also temporally barred from using a VPN after prosecutors accused him of doing so twice, on January 29 and February 12.

The VPN ban was not extended at the hearing on February 16.

Many people in and out of the crypto industry have expressed surprise that Bankman-bail Fried’s has yet to be revoked in these circumstances.
